WESLEYAN WIND ENSEMBLE HOSTS EVENING OF HALLOWEEN FUN
Come and enjoy a haunted night of fun as the Wesleyan Wind Ensemble sets the mood for another spooky Halloween. The one-hour event, which starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, will get everyone in the spirit for trick-or-treating. The free performance, held in Martin Hall, will be followed by cake and treats while the judges award a prize for the best Halloween costume. The Wind Ensemble is directed by Assistant Professor of Music Bryan English. The performance is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. The second annual Halloween concert includes some of the holiday’s spooky favorites, including medleys from Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked. In addition the concert will feature some classics such as Bach’s Fugue from the Well Tempered Clavier that will leave the audience members with chills. The performance will be followed by a costume contest and holiday refreshments. “The concert gives the music department a chance to provide a concert specifically geared toward community members and their families,” said English. The inspiration for a Halloween concert came to English last year after learning about the alleged ghost of Martin Hall. Martin Hall is located at 1309 Wesleyan St. at the northeast corner of Rosedale Street and Wesleyan Street on the Texas Wesleyan University historic campus. Parking is free.
