FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOB R. SIMPSON TO BE HONORED AS BUSINESS EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR

Bob R. Simpson, Chairman and President of XTO Energy, Inc., will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 2, as Fort Worth’s Business Executive of the Year during the 38th annual Fort Worth Business Hall of Fame dinner. The event is sponsored by Texas Wesleyan University, the Fort Worth Business Press and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event benefit the Texas Wesleyan University School of Business Administration and Professional Programs by providing scholarships for business students.

Simpson has derived extraordinary performance from his business with a simple strategy – own the best assets and make them better. For two decades, his team has acquired the highest quality oil and gas assets throughout the U.S. and attacked them with old fashioned hard work and innovation. Like uncovering “diamonds in the rough”, these assets have illuminated with value. Value that has been realized for his shareholders as the Company’s stock has increased by more than 50 times over the years.

Simpson and the XTO Energy family have received many recognized honors and accolades for the success of the company. XTO ranks as the 4th best performing stock on the NYSE since its initial public offering in 1993. As a result, Simpson has been recognized by BARRON’S as one of their “30 Most Respected CEOs in the World” for three years in a row. Oil and Gas Investor magazine named Simpson their “Executive of the Year” in 2006. Additionally, Institutional Investor magazine named him in their “Best CEO’s” issue in January 2006.

Perhaps more important to Simpson is his ability to contribute to his community and to the heritage of Fort Worth. In addition to being selected by the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers as the 2007 recipient of the prestigious Legends Medal, he is being honored by the National Historic Trust at their Restore America Gala for his contributions to historic preservation. At home, the Company has revived multiple buildings in the downtown district as its headquarters. XTO is also aiding area youth by purchasing the grand champion steer at the Fort Worth Stock Show with the proceeds going to educational scholarships.

Simpson attended Baylor University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and then an MBA. Simpson served in the Texas Army National Guard after graduation and then earned his CPA designation. He is married and is the father of seven children.

Bill Adams, Board of Directors, XTO Energy, will deliver remarks of a friend at the Business Hall of Fame dinner.

Simpson will be speaking at Texas Wesleyan University at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Martin Hall.
