Erakovich Presents Papers, Research and Teaches Classes in Montenegro and Serbia in May

"Social Role of Public Organizations Ethics Building in Local Governance in the Balkans" was presented at the Panel on Integrity in Local Authority Areas. An additional presentation was made at the Working Group on Local Government. As co-author of "International Capacity Building: A Partnership of Community," Erakovich reported on projects in Kragujevac, Serbia; Rajasthan, India and Sri Lanka that outlined common themes of capacity building in local governance. The working group met throughout the conference to finalize a report on efforts to build capacity of local governments during CEE efforts at decentralization and suburbanization.

     Erakovich traveled to Serbia and the University of Kragujevac. The Center for Public Administration, within the Faculty of Law (School of Law) is overseen by Dusan Sipovac, LLM, Director and University International Cooperation Officer. Erakovich met with the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs for the Faculty of Law, Dragica Zivojinovic, and conducted two classes in public administration at the school.

     Erakovich attended a strategy meeting at the home office of Alter Shoes in Cacak, Serbia, about 45 minutes from Kragujevac. In attendance were the principals of the organization, Slavko and Jasminka Aleksic, managers of key departments and an internal management consultant. Slavko and Jasminka visited Texas Wesleyan last fall (read about it here) and met with Erakovich's International Management class (MGT 3346). In May, Erakovich presented and delivered the plan developed by the class. The results of the meeting concluded a continued cooperation with Erakovich and the School of Business Administration for the development of a management plan for the expansion of Alter Shoes into a global organization.
