Admission Requirements

Transfer and re-applying students must hold a high school diploma or the accepted equivalent and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. GPA is computed based on transferable college/university level work from regionally accredited institutions.

Students transferring fewer than 30 semester hours must provide official high school transcripts or equivalent, and a combined university-level/high school level GPA will be computed. These students must also submit a minimum SAT combined score of 920 (Critical Reading and Math) or a minimum ACT composite score of 19 to be eligible for an admission decision. Students who have been out of high school 7 or more years will be allowed to substitute SAT or ACT with the THEA college entrance exam.

Specific academic programs may require higher entrance requirements and applicants are subject to review by the dean of the appropriate school for admission approval.

A student suspended from another university who transfers to Texas Wesleyan University must have served the suspension according to Texas Wesleyan University guidelines or show documentation for eligibility to return to the suspending institution prior to enrollment. Coursework taken during suspension is not transferable to Texas Wesleyan University.

Admission Process

Students who have successfully completed 13 or more transferable credits from another accredited college(s) are invited to apply for undergraduate transfer admission to Texas Wesleyan University. (If you have 12 or fewer credits, please see the information for Freshman Admissions.)

Transfer students applying for admission must submit the following to the Office of Admissions:

1. Transfer Application for Admission. You may apply online.

2. Transcripts. Official final transcripts from any/all colleges and universities previously attended are required. Official transcripts must be sent to Texas Wesleyan directly from the institution or delivered in person via sealed envelope. Students with fewer than 30 hours of transferrable work must also submit the following:

3. Official high school transcript or an official copy of the GED Diploma test result.

4. Tests. Official results from either the American College Testing (ACT) program or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Board must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions.

Students who have been out of high school 7 or more years will be allowed to substitute SAT or ACT with the THEA college entrance exam.

You may submit each requested item separately or all at once. The Office of Admissions will begin reviewing your file once we receive all items. You will be notified if we need additional items like letters of recommendation or an essay. Additionally, you will be notified if we are missing any required application items. Finally, you will receive notification by mail regarding your admission decision. Admission decisions are made as soon as your file is complete, on a rolling basis throughout the year.
