The Study of Advertising and Public Relations

 Welcome to Advertising and Public Relations at Texas Wesleyan University.

Required Mass Communication Core courses are:

  • MCO 1301 Introduction to Mass Communication --3 hours
  • MCO 1303 Writing for the Mass Media -- 3 hours
  • MCO 4301 Communication Law and Ethics -- 3 hours
  • MIS 2303 Introduction to Software -- 3 hours

Required Advertising and Public Relations courses are:

  • MCO 3341 Principles of Advertising -- 3 hours
  • MCO 3346 Advertising Copywriting -- 3 hours
  • MCO 3351 Survey of Public Relations -- 3 hours
  • MCO 4306 Audience Analysis -- 3 hours
  • MCO 4331 Advertising Campaigns -- 3 hours

Electives are:

  • 12 hours of any additional Mass Communication courses
  • 6 hours of Management or Marketing courses

A minimum of 18 Mass Communication hours must be taken

    at Texas Wesleyan University.


 

 

Colley and Collier coauthor paper in PR Strategist

Dr. Kay L. Colley, assistant professor of mass communication, and Dr. Amy Collier, director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, coauthored a paper in the Spring 2009 issue of The Public Relations Strategist, the professional journal of the Public Relations Society of America.
