O. D. Bounds Award

Jerry Wood BS ’69

Presented to an alumnus or alumna involved in athletics who exemplifies the work, character and contributions made by the late O.D. Bounds, Jr., BS ’41,a beloved Texas Wesleyan faculty member, coach, volunteer and friend.

Wood first worked as a computer systems analyst for LTV in Dallas, and
then moved on to General Dynamics in Fort Worth as a senior project
engineer. He started Mikrotek Data Systems in Arlington in 1981. During
26 years of operations, Mikrotek has designed, developed, implemented,
and supported logistics management software for military applications. The primary business base for Mikrotek is the international defense market. Mikrotek has operational systems in the United States, Pakistan, Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Bahrain, Italy, Oman, and Korea.

Wood is past president of the Texas Wesleyan Ram Club and current Tournament Chairman of the O.D. Bounds Invitational Fund Raiser. He has served on numerous steering and selection committees at Texas Wesleyan over the years.


He currently lives in Mansfield with his wife, Kim, who manages all IT
systems development for Mikrotek. His daughter Robyn lives in Fort
Worth, and step-daughter Michelle lives in Midlothian. Wood’s niece, Lisa
Ramos, graduated in May of 2007 with Master of Business Administration
and her husband Ryan is presently completing his business degree at Texas Wesleyan. His niece Jana and her husband Chris reside in Abilene, where Chris is attending Texas Tech Pharmacy School.”
