Wesleyan Service Award Bert Thompson, BBA ’99 Awarded to a Texas Wesleyan graduate whose service to the University and its alumni have contributed specifically to the success of the Alumni Association and its programs. As a student at Texas Wesleyan, Bert Thompson was involved in the Student Government Association (SGA), first as a representative for the School of Business and later as Vice President of SGA. He was involved in the Peer Leadership Institute and Phi Beta Lambda. He was a counselor at the first Ram Camp and received the Guardian of the Golden Shears award. Thompson worked on the Texas Wesleyan 2004 Reunion Committee as Chair of the Class of 1999 and became a member of the Alumni Association Board that same year. As a member, he served on the Scholarship Committee, Nominating Committee, and the Medal Awards Committee. He is the immediate past president of the Board. Thompson is involved with several committees at East Meadows Baptist Church, where he also serves as a deacon and helps teach Sunday school. He is an avid supporter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and its fight to find a cure for breast cancer. His professional career began while still at Wesleyan in 1996 with the formation of A.S.T. Lawn Service. Today, A.S.T. Landscape Services, Inc. employs 15 people specializing in commercial landscape maintenance, installation and irrigation. A.S.T. is the current landscape maintenance provider for Wesleyan’s historic campus. He has been married to Brigit for nine years. They have a daughter, Caroline Emma, who was born in March 2006.
