POST GAME AUDIO:
Head Coach Steve Jones

     FORT WORTH, Texas -
Junior Jose Melendez scored in the 85th minute to give Texas Wesleyan a 1-1 tie against Eastern New Mexico, Friday afternoon at Martin Field.

Eastern New Mexico (0-0-1) got on the board early when Adam Diehl scored in the second minute of regulation on a loose ball in front of the net.

Melendez scored his goal on a loose ball from just outside the penalty box to knot the score, 1-1. The Rams (0-0-1) had four shots in the final 10 minutes of regulation, after not taking one the entire first half.

In overtime, neither team was able to capitalize on their scoring chances.

"We were not prepared mentally in the first half," head coach Steve Jones said. "In the second half we came out fired up and the guys really worked hard down the stretch. You hate to tie, but I told the guys that it was better than a loss."

Texas Wesleyan will be back in action when they play host to Oklahoma Christian at Martin Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
