FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas Wesleyan
never could get things rolling as they fell to UT-Tyler, 5-1, Friday
afternoon at Martin Field.
UT-Tyler (1-0) got off to a fast start,
as Malek Bekka scored two goals in the first 15 minutes.
Texas Wesleyan (0-2-1) fought back in the
29th minute when junior Jose Melendez put away his second goal of
the season, tapping in a loose ball from six yards out.
UT-Tyler shut the door in the second half,
scoring three more goals to send the Rams to their second straight
defeat.
"We have a lack of passion right now,"
head coach Steve Jones said. "We have allowed a goal in the
first five minutes of all three games this season. We put ourselves
in a hole and we haven't been able to crawl out of it."
Texas Wesleyan outshot the Patriots, 10-9,
but couldn't find the back of the net as often as UT-Tyler.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action Saturday
when they open up conference play against SW assemblies of God at
Martin Field. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
