Lady Rams keep it rolling with a 4-2 victory over UT-Tyler
September 3, 2004

Box Score

     FORT WORTH, Texas -
Junior Jessica Carrion scored three goals for her first hat trick of the season to lead Texas Wesleyan past UT-Tyler, 4-2, Friday afternoon at Martin Field.

UT-Tyler (0-1) put a scare into the Lady Rams, when they scored 30 seconds into the game. Leigh Garner scored on a one-timer off of a corner kick from Jana Cruce to put the Lady Patriots ahead early, 1-0.

Texas Wesleyan (2-1) fought back in the seventh minute, when sophomore Nichole Richardson recorded her first goal as a Lady Ram from 18 yards out to knot the score, 1-1.

Carrion increased the lead with two goals in the 16th minute and the 35th minute on assists from sophomore Rose Fernandez and freshman Loren Clark, respectively.

The Lady Patriots inched closer in the 53rd minute when Cara Janton scored on another corner kick to cut the deficit to 3-2.

However, Carrion put the game out of reach in the 86th minute, one timing a pass from Richardson for the final goal of the match.

"We are having a hard time finishing," head coach Steve Jones said. "We need to be able to put a game away. We are letting the other teams hang around."

The Lady Rams outshot UT-Tyler, 19-8, and sent 12 shots on goal. Freshman Holly Rowland got her first victory for Texas Wesleyan allowing two goals, while making a save.

Texas Wesleyan will be back in action Saturday when they play host to Northwest Oklahoma State at Martin Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
