FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore
Mark Puente scored in the 25th minute, but that wasn't enough as
Texas Wesleyan fell to #5 Southern Nazarene, 2-1, Friday afternoon
at Martin Field.
Southern Nazarene (5-1) opened the scoring
in the fifth minute when Darko Naumoski scored on a header off of
a corner kick from Thomas Siranga to put the Crimson Storm ahead
early, 1-0.
Texas Wesleyan (2-4-1) fought back when
Puente scored off of a pass from freshman Jacob Halliday in
the 26th minute to knot the score, 1-1.
The Crimson Storm regained the lead in
the 32nd minute when Dominique Nayaga chipped a shot over Ram goalkeeper
Thomas Hansen. Daniel Agina assisted on the play.
In the second half, neither team could
fins the back of the net as the Crimson Storm won their third straight
game.
Southern Nazarene outshot the Rams, 13-3,
and had five cornerkicks to the Rams' zero.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action next Friday
when they travel to take on St. Gregory's in Chickasha, Okla. Kickoff
is set for 2 p.m.
