September 17, 2004

Box Score

     FORT WORTH, Texas -
Sophomore Nichole Richardson scored two goals to lead Texas Wesleyan to a 6-0 victory over Southern Nazarene Friday afternoon at Martin Field.

Texas Wesleyan (3-3-1) got on the board in the 23rd minute when freshman Loren Clark scored on a one-timer off of a pass from junior Jessica Carrion to put the Lady Rams ahead, 1-0.

The Lady Rams punched another one in at the 37-minute mark when Richardson launched a free kick from 30 yards out to make the score, 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Texas Wesleyan poured it on. Sophomore Rose Fernandez, junior Leslie Tabor, Carrion and Richardson all scored goals, with Clark and Tabor collecting assists.

Southern Nazarene (0-5-1) tallied 12 shots in the match, but was unable to solve the two-header goalkeeper in junior Jennifer Arellano and freshman Holly Rowland. Texas Wesleyan also had 12 shots.

"We started off kind of slow," head coach Steve Jones said. "We started to work together and put a lot of pressure on their defense."

Texas Wesleyan returns to action next Friday when they travel to take on St. Gregory's in Chickasha, Okla. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.
