FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Rachel Loftin
pounded down 16 kills to lead Texas Wesleyan past SE Oklahoma State,
3-0, Tuesday evening at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (13-2) dominated the Lady
Savages, 30-16, 30-15, 30-18 for its seventh consecutive victory.
"We started out well in each game,"
head coach Rick Johansen said. "We just got a little sloppy
towards the end of each one. We need to close out our games a little
better."
Senior Cortney Johansen led all players
with 32 assists and also had an amazing 11 service aces and nine
digs to top off one of her best all-around matches of the season.
Senior Becca Broussard followed with eight kills and eight digs,
while junior Susan Taylor led all players with 18 digs. Loftin also
chipped in with nine total blocks.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Friday
when they play host to the Red River Athletic Conference Crossover
Tournament. The two-day tournament will feature every squad from
the 12-team conference. Matches will begin each day at 9 a.m. Texas
Wesleyan will take on Houston Baptist at 3 p.m. on Friday and Huston-Tillotson
at 7 p.m. The Lady Rams will finish up the tournament against Texas
A&M-International at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
