FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Rachel
Loftin was named Red River Athletic Conference player
of the week, and senior Cortney Johansen was named conference setter
of the week by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
Loftin, a junior middle hitter from Burleson,
Texas, generated 47 kills and 34 blocks in a 3-1 week for Texas
Wesleyan. In all, she only committed 11 errors in 95 total attacks
for a kill percentage of .379. Loftin delivered 12 kills with no
errors in 19 total attacks (.632 kill percentage) against Huston-Tillotson
as the Lady Rams won, 3-0. Loftin averaged 3.36 kills per game including
16 against Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Johansen, a sophomore setter from Colleyville,
Texas, posted 141 assists in four matches for the Lady Rams including
52 in a five-set loss to HBU. The conference leader in assists topped
30 total assists
against SOSU and TAMU-International while averaging 10.9 assists
per game. She also added 14 aces and 28 digs. Texas Wesleyan is
now 15-3 on the season and 4-2 in the RRAC.
The Lady Rams will travel to take on conference-rival
Paul Quinn Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Dallas.
