MARSHALL, Texas -
Freshman Loren Clark tallied two goals to lead Texas Wesleyan past East Texas
Baptist, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Texas
Wesleyan (6-4-1) opened the scoring in the 49th minute when Clark received a through
ball from freshman Stefanie Blowers and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to put
the Lady Rams up 1-0. Clark struck again when she scored on a similar play in
the 73rd minute. Sophomore Nicole Richardson assisted on the play.
"This
was one of the best possession games the girls played all season," head coach
Steve Jones said. "We executed brilliantly. This was a great all-around effort
against a good team."
Texas Wesleyan
outshot East Texas Baptist, 19-9. Richardson led the Lady Rams with six shots,
while Clark added three. Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Arellano tallied four saves,
while freshman Holly Rowland chipped in with two saves.
Texas
Wesleyan returns to action Saturday when they travel to take on Sooner-Conference
member Oklahoma City. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. The Lady Rams upset the Stars,
1-0, in Fort Worth last season.
