Texas Wesleyan closes out conference-play with victory
November 2, 2004

WAXAHACHIE, Texas - Senior Becca Broussard tallied six kills and eight digs to lead Texas Wesleyan past Southwestern Assemblies of God, 3-0, Tuesday evening in Red River Conference action.

Texas Wesleyan (27-3, 14-2 RRAC) defeated the Lady Lions, 30-12, 30-15, 30-19, for its 14th straight victory.

"Our girls kept their intensity up for all three games," head coach Rick Johansen said. "We have been working on that all week during practice, and they really put it to work this evening. This next game will be difficult, because Texas Women's played us tough at their home court."

Senior Cortney Johansen had 21 assists, while freshman Lauren Weems added nine digs. Senior Tiffany Porterfield, junior Rachel Loftin and freshman Sandra Ayala all totaled seven kills.

Texas Wesleyan returns to action Tuesday when they host Texas Women's. The evening has been deemed "Parent's Night". First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium. The Lady Rams defeated Texas Women's on Oct. 21, defeating the Lady Pioneers, 3-0, in Denton.
