FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas
Wesleyan women's soccer team placed six players on the
2004 Red River Athletic All-Conference team Tuesday morning. The
all-conference squad was voted on by conference coaches.
Sophomore Nichole Richardson was named
first-team all-conference and co-newcomer of the year. The Mansfield,
Texas native led the Lady Rams with nine goals and six assists on
48 shots. She also had two game-winning goals for Texas Wesleyan.
Junior Jessica Carrion and freshman Loren
Clark were also named to the first team.
Carrion, who only played in 10 games this
season because of a season-ending injury, scored eight goals and
had five assists on 29 shots. This was the Fort Worth, Texas native's,
third straight season to be named to the first team.

Clark was one of only two freshmen named
to the first team. The Midlothian, Texas native, tallied seven goals
and four assists in 15 games. Four of her goals were game-winners.
Texas Wesleyan also had three players on
the second team as well. Sophomore Heather Fowler and freshman Allie
Heafner, along with junior goalkeeper Jennifer Arellano made the
second team.
Fowler and Heafner both headed up a defense
that allowed only 1.30 goals per game and registered five shutouts.
For Fowler this was her second straight second-team selection.
Heafner was the only freshman to make the second team.
Arrellano, who appeared in 14 games for
the Lady Rams, allowed only 1.24 goals per game. The El Paso, Texas
native,produced three shutouts on the season to go along with her
38 saves.
"We had to deal with a lot of injuries
this season," head coach Steve Jones said. "To see all
of thegirls on the all-conference team shows that they know how
to overcome difficulties. I am excited about next season with all
six of the girls, and many others, returning to the team."
Texas Wesleyan ended its season with arecord
of 7-8-1 when they were knocked out in the semifinal round of the
conference tournament by College of the Southwest, 2-1, in overtime
on Tuesday.
