MARSHALL, Texas - Junior
Shawndrika Courtney registered 15 points and six rebounds to lead Texas Wesleyan
past Wiley College, 75-53, Tuesday evening in its Red River Athletic Conference
opener.
Texas
Wesleyan (2-4) raced out to a 37-26 lead at halftime and coasted to the 22-point
victory to open conference play with a victory.
Senior
Shayla Coleman tallied 13 points, while senior Kashae Townsend added six rebounds
and senior Johnna Flemmons registered three assists.
Texas
Wesleyan shot 54 percent (29-54) from the field and 55 percent (16-29) from the
charity stripe. The Lady Rams also shot 25 percent (1-4) from behind the arc.
Wiley
College shot 40 percent (18-45) from the floor and 57 percent (13-23) from the
free-throw line. The Lady Wildcats also shot 44 percent (4-9) from the three-point
line.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action
Monday when they take on conference-foe Jarvis Christian College. Tip-off is set
for 5:30 p.m. in Hawkins, Texas. Jarvis defeated the Lady Rams, 76-69, last season
in Hawkins.
