Lady Rams outshoot Bacone College, 72-44

     MUSKOGEE, Okla. -
Sophomore Nastassia Brown tallied 13 points and nine rebounds to lead Texas Wesleyan to a 72-44 victory over Bacone College Monday evening in Red River Athletic Conference action.

     Texas Wesleyan (15-8, 12-3 RRAC) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, with 18:05 remaining in the game. The Lady Rams increased their lead to 15-4 over the next four minutes, led by three treys.

     Bacone College (8-13, 3-10 RRAC) used a 7-2 run over the next two minutes to cut the lead to, 17-11, with 12:36 remaining in the first half. Odeta Giedrimaite led the way with three points during the run.

     The Lady Rams then went on a scoring spree, outscoring the Lady Warriors, 21-6, to end the first half and take a 38-17 lead into the break. Sophomore Britney Helton led all scorers with eight points in the first frame.

     In the second half, the Lady Rams kept their distance from Bacone College, and sophomore Lacie Curry scored eight points with Brown chipping in with seven points.

     The Lady Rams outrebounded Bacone College, 43-39, and dished out 18 assists.
Senior Shayla Coleman registered 11 points, while Curry added 10 points and eight rebounds. Junior
Tiffany Hill led all players with six assists.

     Texas Wesleyan shot 47 percent (26-55) from the floor and 81 percent (13-16) from the charity stripe. The Lady Rams also shot 54 percent (7-13) from the three-point line.

     Bacone College shot 25 percent (16-63) from the field and 56 percent (5-9) from the free-throw line. The Lady Warriors also shot 24 percent (7-29) from behind the arc.

     Texas Wesleyan will be back in action Saturday, when they take on conference-rival Paul Quinn College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium. The Lady Rams already defeated Paul Quinn once, 77-36, on Jan. 8th in Dallas. Texas Wesleyan remains in second place two games ahead of both Langston and UT-Permian Basin, and three games back of Houston Baptist for first place.
