Score FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior
Kashae Townsend tallied 14 points and six rebounds to lead Texas Wesleyan past
Southwestern Assemblies of God, 76-45, Monday evening in Red River Athletic Conference
action.

Assemblies of God (2-23, 2-15 RRAC) jumped out to an early 6-4 lead at the 15:43
mark of the first half. Evelyn Johnson led the Lady Lions, scoring all six points.
Texas
Wesleyan (17-8, 14-3 RRAC) fought back with a 13-6 run over the next eight minutes
to take a 17-12 lead with 7:02 remaining in the first half. Townsend led the way
with four points over that span. The Lady Rams also forced six turnovers during
the run.
The Lady Lions then went on a 12-2
run over the next four minutes, forcing the Lady Rams into four turnovers. The
run gave SAGU a 24-19 lead with 3:35 left in the first frame.
A
three-pointer from senior Johnna Flemmons and one from sophomore Stephanie Sewell,
plus four points from junior Tiffany Hill sent Texas Wesleyan on a 12-0 run to
end the first period. The run led the Lady Rams ahead, 31-24, at intermission.
In
the second half, the Lady Rams came out hot, scoring on seven of its first nine
possessions, to go on a 15-4 run to open the period. That run increased Texas
Wesleyan's single-digit lead to a commanding 46-28. Senior Shayla Coleman scored
seven points during the run to lead the way.
Texas
Wesleyan kept its lead down the final stretch thanks to eights points each from
Townsend and sophomore Britney Helton.
Flemmons
scored seven points and picked up four steals off of the bench, while sophomore
Nastassia Brown registered nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Johnson
led the visiting team with 20 points and five rebounds, while Amanda Hores chipped
in with five points and seven rebounds.
Texas
Wesleyan shot 52 percent (34-66) from the floor and 38 percent (3-8) from the
charity stripe. The Lady Rams also shot 39 percent (5-13) from the three-point
line.
SW Assemblies of God shot 34 percent
(15-44) from the field and 67 percent (14-21) from the free-throw line. The Lady
Lions also shot 17 percent (1-6) from behind the arc.
Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Thursday, when they travel take on conference-rival
Texas College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Tyler, Texas. The Lady Rams already
defeated Texas College once, 78-53, on Jan. 13th in Fort Worth. Texas Wesleyan
remains in second place three games back of Houston Baptist for first place and
