     TYLER, Texas -
The Texas Wesleyan softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to UT-Tyler Saturday afternoon at Patriot Field. The Patriots took game one, 7-4, and finished off the sweep with a 6-1 victory in the second game.

UT-Tyler (3-1) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning on the strength of three walks and three hits.

Texas Wesleyan (7-4) tallied three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Designated hitter Amanda Milam smoked a home run to left field and leftfielder Rachel Hmapton had two-run shot to cut the lead to 6-3.

The Patriots would add another run in the fifth inning and the Lady Rams registered one run in the seventh.

Wesleyan stranded eight base runners in the game.

Milam (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on one hit, while walking three batters without registering an out.

In the second game, UT-Tyler again opened the scoring in the second inning. Texas Wesleyan responded with a run of its own in the fourth inning on another Milam home run. This time she launched a shot to right field to knot the score, 1-1.

The Patriots scored four runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday when they host conference-rival UT-Permian Basin. The doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. at Sycamore Park.
