DALLAS, Texas - Texas Wesleyan
freshman Josh Vander Hey was named Red River Athletic Conference
co-player of the week by the conference office on Tuesday.
Vander Hey, a catcher from Cypress, Texas,
hit in all five of Wesleyan's games last week as the Rams (19-9)
swept two opponents. In a 14-4 win over University of Wisconsin-Plattville,
he was 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and two RBI. Vander
Hey drove in four runs in the Rams' 7-2 win in the first game of
a three-game series with College of the Southwest (N.M.) and connected
for three doubles and eight RBIs during the series. For the week,
he was 10-of-16 hitting (.625) with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored.
Josh is currently leading the team with
a .459 batting average and is second on the team with 21 RBIs. He
currently has a seven-game hitting streak and has had at least one
extra-base hit in his last six games.
The Rams will be back in action Thursday
when they host Tabor College (Kan.). First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
at LaGrave Field.
