IZMIR, Turkey - Texas Wesleyan
senior Ben Hunt has helped lead Australia to a 2-1 record in pool
play during the first weekend of the World University Games.
The 6-3 guard has averaged 11 points, 2.3
rebounds and 2.0 assists a game for Australia.
The Aussies defeated Lebanon, 99-69 on
Friday, with Hunt registering four points and two assists off of
the bench. Hunt led the team in scoring with 20 points in an 80-72
victory over Great Britain on Saturday. He was 7-of-10 from the
field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc. He also finished with four
rebounds and four assists. The Australian team lost on Sunday to
pool-leader Lithuania, 68-65. Hunt tallied nine points and three
rebounds off of the bench. He is also 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
He is 8-of-14 (.571) from the three-point line for the tournament
so far.
Australia has two more pool games before
bracket play. They will take on Ukraine on Tuesday and Greece on
Wednesday. Bracket play will begin Thursday. For complete results
