Oct. 2, Fort Worth Texas Wesleyan
University released its womens basketball schedule today,
which includes 16 home contests and 20 Red River Conference games.
The season begins for the Lady Rams at home on
November 11th against Southwest Oklahoma Christian. Then,
following a road trip to Hillsdale College in Oklahoma, the team
returns to Fort Worth for a five game homestand beginning on
November 21st. The final game of this homestand is against Paul
Quinn College on December 3rd, which will be the Lady Rams
first-ever Red River Conference match.
The Lady Rams will square off against Houston
Baptist, last seasons Red River Conference champion, in
Houston on January 20th, and then again at home on February 24th.
Post-season play
begins on March 6th.
The Lady Rams, led by second-year head coach
Stacy Francis, are expecting a huge turnaround from a
disappointing 2001-2002 season. After two consecutive 20-win
seasons, the team struggled through a rebuilding year in
2001-2002. Returning from that squad are senior guard Ertasha
Jackson, who led the Lady Rams in scoring, and sophomore center
Kimberly Cooper.
With only two returning players
from last season, said coach Francis, there will be
many new faces and changes [in strategy] on the court this year,
but we have committed ourselves to rising to the challenge this
new season presents.
