Fort Worth - Cortney Johansen and Rachel Loftin
lifted Texas Wesleyan University volleyball to a 3-1 week and
earned Red River Athletic Conference Setter and Player of the Week
honors for games played during the dates of Oct. 14-20.
Johansen, second in the conference in assists,
posted two consecutive matches with 14.3 assists per game, as
Wesleyan defeated UT-Permian Basin and College of the Southwest.
She also collected 11 assists per game in a three-game defeat of
Paul Quinn College. The sophomore from Colleyville posted 33, 25,
60, and 43 assists in four matches and contributed 15 total kills
and 14 digs.
Loftin, a freshman middle blocker from Joshua,
Texas, registered 35 kills to help raise Wesleyans season
record to 11-9. She was credited with 12 kills in wins over Paul
Quinn College and UT-Permian Basin with hitting percentages of
.522 and .444. She also had a percentage of .500 in Saturdays
three-game win over College of the Southwest. She committed only
eight hitting errors in 77 total attacks during the week, and
added 14 digs as well.
