Basketball, Volleyball Teams Gearing Up for Busy Weekend
November 20, 2002

FORT WORTH, Texas – This weekend promises to be an exciting one for the athletic teams at Texas Wesleyan.

Volleyball travels to Lubbock on Friday to square off against some of the region’s best teams. They face Red River Conference rival UT-Permian Basin at 1:00 PM. If the heavily favored Lady Rams win that match, they will face host Lubbock Christian University at 7:00 PM in the tournament semi-finals. The finals will be played on Saturday afternoon, and should Wesleyan advance that far, they will likely get another shot at Houston Baptist, who defeated the Lady Rams in three games in the conference tournament finals last weekend.

The men’s basketball team puts their 6-0 record on the line as they travel to McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana for a Friday night showdown. McNeese State, an NCAA Division I school and two-time reigning champion of the Southland Conference, was seeded 14th in the Southwest bracket of last year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Playing in Dallas at the American Airlines Center, they lost to #3 Mississippi State in the first round.

The men return home on Saturday to face Schreiner College at 7:30 PM.

The Lady Ram basketball team begins the weekend a little early, facing Hillsdale College for the second time in three days on Thursday night. The two teams met Monday night on the Hillsdale campus in Moore, Oklahoma. After a very close first half, Wesleyan cruised to a comfortable 60-53 win. The rematch is scheduled for 6 PM in the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.

Then on Saturday, the Lady Eagles of Rhema Bible College travel to Fort Worth. Tip off is at 5:30 PM.

Every contest this weekend will be broadcast through Teamline Sports Services. For more information, click on the Teamline link on the homepage.
