FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Wesleyan senior Andy Hughes was honored as the Red River Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 10-16. It is the second consecutive week he has won the award.

Hughes topped last week’s winning performance with seven shutout innings in a 7-0 victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God University on March 14. He allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out nine for his third win of the season.

Hughes currently ranks second in the conference with a 2.00 ERA in 27 innings pitched. He is also sixth in total strikeouts with 23 and seventh in strikeouts-per-nine-innings at 7.67.
