Rams Top Jarvis Christian, Reach 30-Win Mark For Season
April 15, 2003

FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas Wesleyan (30-18-1, 14-9 RRAC) pounded out 24 hits on the day, sweeping a conference doubleheader against the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian College on Monday. David Hinson and Chris Bayuk each threw a complete game for the Rams, giving up 10 hits and one run between them as Wesleyan won 10-0 and 8-1.

Jeremy Craft powered the offense in game one with a double and a pair of triples , and Matt Putman also tripled - driving in the ninth run and scoring the tenth - as the Rams won the game 10-0 in a game shortened to five innings due to the ten-run mercy rule.

Wesleyan took command early, scoring four runs in the first inning and another three in the second. Starter David Hinson shut the door from there, allowing just four hits in a complete game shutout, his first of the season.

In the second contest, the Rams scored single runs in each of the first two innings to take a small lead, then blew open the game in the fourth, scoring six times on 5 hits and two walks. Billy Eaton homered, despite a strong wind blowing in from left field, to help the cause. Cole Henry added a triple, and Anthony Bolivar, Andy Hughes, and Travis Clifford all hit doubles for the Rams, who scored eight times on 13 hits to win by seven.

Chris Bayuk gave up one run in the seven-inning complete game, allowing six hits while striking out five.

The Rams, who are undefeated in their last 12 games and who have won 18 of their last 22, improve to 30-18-1 on the season, and are now 14-9 in Red River Conference play. They will conclude the series against Jarvis Christian on Tuesday at 3:30 at the practice field in Sycamore Park. This weekend, Houston Baptist comes to LaGrave Field for a three game set.
