     FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore forward Rene Mercado's goal in the 63rd minute gave Texas Wesleyan a 1-0 victory over McMurry, Wednesday afternoon at Martin Field.
     "This game was hard-fought by both teams," head coach Steve Jones said. "Our guys wouldn't give up and played till the final whistle. I was pleased with the toughness we showed today."
     McMurry (1-1) outshot the Rams 9-8, but couldn't capitalize on any of its three scoring chances.
Sophomore midfielder Jose Melendez set up the Rams lone goal when he poked a pass through two defenders where Mercado was there to tap it in for the one-timer.
     Texas Wesleyan (3-0) picked up three yellow cards, while McMurry picked up seven in a very physical contest.
     The Rams will be back in action Saturday when they travel to take on Central Arkansas at 5 p.m.
