CONWAY, Ark. - The Texas Wesleyan
men's soccer team's winning streak came to an end Saturday afternoon
as they lost to Central Arkansas, 3-0.
The Rams (3-1) never could get anything
going, as Central Arkansas outshot Texas Wesleyan, 20-7.
The Bears (2-0-1) received two goals
from Danny George and Jason Bell chipped in for the other.
"The guys played hard today,"
head coach Steve Jones said. "We were a bit overmatched. Central
Arkansas is a very talented team. My hat goes off to them."
Sophomore Travis Mauldin led the Rams
with two shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Steven Deering
kept the game close, making eight saves off of 11 shots on goal.
"Steven has some really great
games this season," Jones said. "He kept us in the game
today with some big saves. He is playing well beyond his years."
The Rams will be back in action September
13, when they travel to take on conference-rival Southwest Assemblies
of God at 5 p.m.
