HOUSTON, Texas. - Texas Wesleyan
lost to ninth-ranked Houston Baptist, 30-17, 30-20, 30-25, Friday
evening in Red River Athletic Conference action at Sharp Gymnasium.
"Houston Baptist played well tonight,"
head coach Rick Johansen said. "They took us out of our normal
game plan. They were quicker and faster than us tonight and they
just outplayed us."
Texas Wesleyan (2-2, 1-1 RRAC) who came
into tonight's match with a team hitting percentage of .241, posted
a .160 hitting percentage with only 30 kills to go along with 13
errors.
"We had flashes of good play but were
too inconsistent the entire match," Johansen said. "The
minute we had a run going, we lost focus and HBU would take the
lead again."
Sophomore Rachel Loftin led the Lady Rams
with nine kills. Junior Cortney Johansen posted 27 assists, while
sophomore Allyson Gaudi had a team-best eight digs.
Leading the way for the Huskies (6-2, 5-0
RRAC) was Katrina English who finished with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Sarah Emmer led Houston Baptist with 42 assists.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Saturday
when they travel to take on conference-rival Huston-Tillotson at
1 p.m.
