FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore
Rachel Loftin had 13 kills and five blocks to lead Texas Wesleyan
past Southeastern Oklahoma State, 30-19, 30-16, 30-26, Tuesday evening
at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (4-2) took the first game
with ease, on the strength of a .375 hitting percentage and four
kills from Loftin.
The second game was much of the same, with
the Lady Rams hitting .400 as a team and Loftin producing five kills
to go along with junior Tiffany Porterfield's five kills and three
blocks.
In game three, SOSU (1-9) held Texas Wesleyan
to a .081 hitting percentage and stayed with them the entire game.
With the score knotted at 23-23, the Lady Rams went on 7-3 run to
close the game out and preserve the victory.
Porterfield finished with 12 kills, four
aces and four blocks, while junior Nicky Davis added five kills
and five blocks. Junior Cortney Johansen led the Lady Rams with
40 assists.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Thursday
when they travel to take on conference-rival Texas College at 7
p.m., in Tyler.
