FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore
Jessica Carrion's goal with one minute left in the first overtime
gave Texas Wesleyan a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma City Wednesday afternoon
at Martin Field.
Carrion, a Fort Worth, Texas, native, took
a pass from junior Cristal Pena and beat the Lady Star goalkeeper
one-on-one in the 99th minute.
"Jessica had a lot of opportunities
the entire match and couldn't finish," head coach Steve Jones
said. "I am glad she finally finished one and it came at the
right time."
However, Carrion was not the only star
of the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Katrina Fishback kept the Lady
Rams in the match, making numerous saves their entire afternoon.
She finished the day with 15 saves.
"Kat played brilliantly for us today,"
Jones said. "This was probably her best game in a Texas Wesleyan
uniform. I don't think she could have played any better."
Texas Wesleyan (5-2) only had a limited
number of chances putting five shots on goal. Oklahoma City finished
with 15.
The Stars (2-2-2) outshot the Lady Rams,
20-10.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday,
at Martin Field when they host John Brown at 4 p.m.
