TYLER, Texas. - On the strength
of 18 aces, Texas Wesleyan defeated Texas College, 30-15, 30-10,
30-15, Thursday evening in Red River Athletic Conference action.
"We controlled the match offensively
and kept our errors to a minimum," head coach Rick Johansen.
"Everything came together tonight and we passed the ball well."
Leading the way for the Lady Rams (5-2,
3-1 RRAC) was junior Tiffany Porterfield who finished the match
with a team-high 18 kills and four aces. Sophomore Rachel Loftin
chipped in 16 kills and a team-high nine aces.
Defensively for Texas Wesleyan, sophomore
Allyson Gaudi racked up 14 digs. Junior Cortney Johansen led the
Lady Rams with 43 assists.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Friday
when they travel to take on conference-rivals Jarvis Christian at
3 p.m., and Wiley College at 8 p.m.
