MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Freshman
Sara Southerland had nine kills, 11 digs and six aces to lead Texas
Wesleyan past Bacone College, 30-21, 30-8, 30-21, Saturday afternoon
in Red River Athletic Conference action.
Tied at 21 in the first game, Texas Wesleyan
(8-2, 6-1 RRAC) ran off nine straight points to secure the game
on the strength of four aces from senior Lindsay Chandler.
"It was tight, late in the first game,
when we turned it up a notch," head coach Rick Johansen said.
"The girls fed off of that first game victory and the momentum
carried throughout the match."
The Rams took the final two games to wrap
up their sixth victory in a row.
Sophomore Rachel Loftin and junior Tiffany
Porterfield led the Lady Rams with 11 kills each. Junior Cortney
Johansen tallied 41 assists seven digs. Sophomore Allyson Gaudi
had a team-high 13 digs.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Friday
at the Sid Ricahrdson Gymnasium when they host conference-rival
UT-Permian Basin at 7 p.m.
