FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas
Wesleyan women's soccer team has been announced as Region
VI fourth-ranked team Tuesday.
The Lady Rams (5-3) knocked off last week's
2nd-ranked Oklahoma City squad, 1-0, in overtime on Sept. 17. The
victory was the first over the Lady Stars by any Red River Conference.
"This is a great honor for this team,"
head coach Steve Jones said. "These girls work hard every day.
The victory over Oklahoma City was huge. It should give us a lot
of confidence going into conference play."
Leading the way so far for Texas Wesleyan
has been sophomore Jessica Carrion. The Fort Worth, Texas native,
already has tallied 12 goals and two assists for a team-best 26
points. She also scored the game-winner in overtime against Oklahoma
City.
The Lady Rams also have a victory this
season over the region's fifth-ranked team, Oklahoma Arts and Science.
Texas Wesleyan outscored them, 4-3, on Aug. 23.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action Tuesday
at Martin Field, when they host Mary-Hardin Baylor at 3 p.m.
