TALLEQUAH, Okla. - The Texas
Wesleyan golf team finished in third place at the Northeastern State
University Classic Tuesday afternoon.
Texas Wesleyan (287-306-299=892) finished
22 shots behind tournament host Northeastern State (870) and just
one shot behind the second-place finisher, Central Missouri (891).
"We had a great start in round one
and a lot of momentum going into round two," head coach Kevin
Millikan said. "We just fell apart that last round and lost
some ground to the leaders."
Leading the way for the Rams was sophomore
Reino Deetlefs. After an opening-round 69, Deetlefs played steady
finishing with a 74 and a final-round 75 for a total of 218 which
was good enough for fourth place.
"Reino did great this tournament,"
Millikan said. "He beat a lot of quality players and has played
solid this season."
The Rams will be back in action October
6-7, when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Grand
Canyon Classic.
