FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore
Rachel Loftin was selected as co-player of the week and junior Cortney
Johansen was named co-setter of the week by the Red River Athletic
Conference Tuesday morning.
Loftin, a sophomore middle blocker from
Joshua, Texas, paced Texas Wesleyan with 86 kills (4.1 per game)
as the Lady Rams went 5-1 last week to reach 15-3 on the season.
Against Paul Quinn College (Texas), she connected on 15 kills in
21 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. She reached double-figures
in kills in four other matches and made 34 blocks with a hitting
average of .354 for the week. Loftin leads the RRAC in kills with
4.25 per game, and she is fourth in blocks with 1.21per game.
Johansen, a junior setter from Colleyville,
Texas, piled up 228 assists at a rate of 10.9 per game for Texas
Wesleyan. She had a high of 53 assists in one match last week and
had at least 31 assists in five of six matches. She had 48 assists
against non-conference opponent Wayland Baptist University (Texas)
as the Lady Rams won in five sets. Johansen is second in the RRAC
in assists with 12.2 per game.
The Rams will be back in action Friday
when they host conference foes Wiley College at 1 p.m. and Bacone
College at 7 p.m.
