FORT WORTH, Texas. - The Texas
Wesleyan volleyball team defeated Wiley College, 3-0, and Bacone
College, 3-0, in Red River Conference play Saturday at the Sid Richardson
Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (17-3, 12-1 RRAC) took the first match of the day
against Wiley College, 30-9, 30-14, 30-17.
Sophomore Rachel Loftin led the Lady
Rams with 12 kills and added three blocks. Junior Tiffany Porterfield
tallied four aces and junior Cortney Johansen led the team with
35 assists.
The Lady Rams had a field day posting
a team hitting percentage of .347. This is the second highest percentage
Texas Wesleyan has had all season.
Against Bacone College, Texas Wesleyan
jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, coasting to a
30-23, 30-18, 30-20 victory.
Porterfield led the way for the Lady Rams
posting eight kills and adding three aces. Cortney Johansen again
led Texas Wesleyan with 26 assists. Junior Kat Williams posted 11
digs for the Lady Rams.
"The girls played well in both matches,"
head coach Rick Johansen said. "We got a lead and didn't let
either team back into the match. They took care of business."
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Saturday
when they host conference foes Texas College at 11 a.m. and Jarvis
Christian College at 1 p.m.
