FORT WORTH, Texas. - The Texas
Wesleyan women's soccer team received four goals from sophomore
Jessica Carrion to help defeat Texas A&M-International, 7-1,
Saturday afternoon at Martin Field.
Texas Wesleyan (8-5, 2-1 RRAC) opened the
scoring in the opening seconds of the match when Carrion scored
on a breakaway to put the Lady Rams ahead, 1-0. Carrion would score
two more goals before the half. Senior Jolene Ratliff and freshman
Melody Overland also score for Texas Wesleyan to put the Lady Rams
ahead, 5-0, at the intermission.
In the second half, junior Jessica Elder
scored on an assist from junior Cristal Pena. Carrion added her
fourth goal of the match shortly after, on an assist from senior
Uduma Ogidi.
Texas A&M-International (6-6-1, 0-3
RRAC) added a late goal for the final margin, 7-1.
"The girls played excellent today,"
head coach Steve Jones said. "They finished their attacks and
played solid defense."
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday
when they travel to take on conference-foe Bacone College at 2 p.m.
