FORT WORTH, Texas. - Sophomore
Rachel Loftin's posted 16 kills and four blocks to lead Texas Wesleyan
past Huston-Tillotson College, 3-0, Saturday morning in Red River
Conference play at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (20-4, 15-2 RRAC) had no
problems in the first two games. On the strength of a potent attack,
the Lady Rams took the first two games 30-12, and 30-8.
In game three, Huston-Tillotson raced to
a 7-2 lead before the Lady Rams regained their composure and closed
out the match, with a 30-21 third-game victory.
"The girls came out today and performed
well," head coach Rick Johansen said. "They rebounded
well after last night's defeat. That is the sign of a good team
when they don't have losing streaks."
Junior Tiffany Porterfield chipped in 12
kills and two blocks, while junior Cortney Johansen dished out 42
assists and three aces.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Thursday
when they host Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m.
