FORT WORTH, Texas. - Sophomore
Rachel Loftin tallied 13 kills to help lead Texas Wesleyan past
Southern Nazarene, 30-16, 30-15, 30-17, Thursday evening at the
Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (21-4) took the first two
games with ease as junior Cortney Johansen dished out 16 and 12
assists respectively.
Southern Nazarene (19-13) held close in
game three, trailing only 12-10, but Loftin took over and posted
five kills to finish off the match.
"I thought we hit the ball good as
a team tonight," head coach Rick Johansen said. "I thought
Jocelyn stepped up for us tonight. With the injury to Nicky (Davis)
she filled the position well."
Jocelyn Gaudi finished the evening with
eight kills and three assists. Johansen dished out 39 assists, while
junior Tiffany Porterfield tallied 10 kills.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Saturday
when they travel to take on conference-foe Texas A&M-International
at 11 a.m.
