LAREDO, Texas - Sophomore Rachel
Loftin tallied 18 kills to help lead Texas Wesleyan past Texas A&M-International,
30-22, 30-26, 30-27, Saturday morning in Red River Conference play.
Texas Wesleyan (22-4, 16-2 RRAC) took the
first game with ease as Loftin led the way with seven kills.
Texas A&M-International (13-7, 13-5
RRAC) held close in games two and three but the Lady Rams finished
them off with steady defensive play.
"We received some great play from
our middle attack today," head coach Rick Johansen said. "Tiffany
and Rachel have been two of the keys to our success this season."
Junior Tiffany Porterfield posted 11 kills
and one block, while freshman Sara Southerland chipped in seven
kills and six digs. Junior Cortney Johansen led the Lady Rams with
34 assists, while sophomore Susan Taylor had a game-high 12 digs.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Friday
when they travel to take on conference-foe UT-Permian Basin at 7
p.m.
