FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore
Rachel Loftin was named Red River Conference player of the week,
junior Cortney Johansen was named co-setter of the week and sophomore
Susan Taylor was named co-defensive specialist of the week by the
conference office Tuesday morning.
Loftin, a sophomore middle blocker from
Joshua, Texas, boosted her league lead in kills with 31 more in
the Lady Rams' two matches last week. As Texas Wesleyan swept Southern
Nazarene University (Okla.), Loftin posted 13 kills in 27 total
attempts with only two errors (.407 hitting percentage), and she
followed that outing with 18 kills against Texas A&M International
University in 27 total attempts with just three errors (.556). For
the week, she delivered 5.2 kills per game, recorded 15 blocks and
registered a hitting percentage of .481 as the Lady Rams moved to
22-4 on the year.
Johansen, a junior setter from Colleyville,
Texas, averaged 13.2 assists per game in Texas Wesleyan's wins.
She made 39 assists against SNU and added 40 more against TAMIU
for a total of 79 for the week. She also had 11 digs, five blocks
and seven kills.
Taylor, a libero from Southlake, Texas,
averaged 13.5 digs per game. She totaled 13 digs against Southern
Nazarene and posted 14 digs in the Lady Rams victory over conference-foe
Texas A&M-International. Taylor has a total of 218 digs on the
season for an average of 2.56 per game.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Friday
when they travel to take on conference-foe UT-Permian Basin at 7
p.m.
