HOUSTON, Texas - Junior Nicky
Davis had 13 kills and five blocks to lead Texas Wesleyan past College
of the Southwest, 3-0, in the semifinals Red River Athletic Conference
Tournament.
Texas Wesleyan (28-4) won a hard-fought
game one, 30-25, on the strength of four kills from Rachel Loftin.
In game two, the Lady Rams eased by the Lady Mustangs, 30-15, and
finished them off in game three, 30-25.
"We played sound volleyball tonight,"
head coach Rick Johansen said. "We shut down the opposition
and served aggressively. We did the things we needed to win."
Junior Cortney Johansen dished out 40 assists,
while junior Kat Williams led the Lady Rams with 16 digs. Sophomore
Susan Taylor chipped in 12 digs and junior Tiffany Porterfield had
six blocks.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday,
when they take on regular-season champion Houston Baptist in the
championship match at 12 p.m. The match can be heard live
