WORTH, Texas - Seven members of the Texas Wesleyan volleyball
team were named to the Red River Athletic Conference all-conference
team Thursday morning by the conference office.
Freshman Sara Southerland was named co-newcomer
of the year, along with Texas A&M-International's Jessica Vargas.
Southerland is currently fourth on the team in kills with 210 and
second on the team in passing percentage with .913. She is also
third on the team with 37 aces.
Juniors Nicky Davis and Cortney Johansen,
along with sophomore Rachel Loftin both made first-team all-conference.
Davis is third on the team in kills with 275. She is also third
on the team in blocks with 75. Johansen led the Lady Rams with 1316
assists and was second in the conference with 12.19 assists per
game. She is also third on the team with a .379 hitting percentage.
Loftin is leading Texas Wesleyan with 472 kills and is second on
the team with 39 aces. She is also second in the conference with
a .400 hitting percentage.
Junior Tiffany Porterfield and sophomores
Allyson Gaudi and Susan Taylor were all named honorable mention
all-conference. Porterfield is currently second on the team with
356 kills and leads the team with 49 aces. Gaudi leads the team
with 313 digs and a .921 passing percentage. Taylor is second on
the team with 310 digs and has a .910 passing percentage.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Friday,
Nov. 21 when they take part in the Region VI Tournament, hosted
by Houston Baptist. The Lady Rams will face UT-Permian Basin in
the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. at the Sharp Gymnasium.
