OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Junior
Kashae Townsend tallied 13 points, seven rebounds and four
steals to lead Texas Wesleyan over Hillsdale Baptist, 75-53, Saturday
evening.
Texas Wesleyan (3-2) took a 31-27 lead
at halftime, on the strength eight points each from Townsend and
junior Shayla Coleman.
In the second half, the Lady Rams took
over with freshman Nastassia Brown leading the way with seven points.
Texas Wesleyan outscored Hillsdale Baptist, 44-26.
"We came ready to play tonight,"
head coach Stacy Francis said. "When we got it going in the
second half, we were unstoppable. We were all pretty consistent
the entire night."
Also leading the way for the Lady Rams
were Brown and Coleman. Brown finished the evening with 14 points
and seven rebounds. Coleman chipped in with 10 points and three
assists. Freshman Shamona Hollingsworth also had 13 points and five
rebounds.
Texas Wesleyan shot 36 percent (28-78) from
the field and 27 percent (4-15) from behind the arc. The Lady Rams
also shot 58 percent (15-26) from the free-throw line.
Hillsdale Baptist shot 30 percent (18-61)
from the field and 22 percent (2-9) from three-point land. They
also shot 60 percent (15-25) from the charity stripe.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Monday,
when they travel to St. Gregory's at 6 p.m. Texas Wesleyan lost
to the Lady Cavaliers, 57-49, on Nov. 18, in Fort Worth.
