SHAWNEE, Okla. - Junior Kashae Townsend
tallied nine points and 12 rebounds in a losing cause as Texas Wesleyan
fell to St. Gregory's, 54-39, Monday evening at the W.H. Wood Field
House.
Texas Wesleyan (3-3) opened the game on
a 14-8 run, to take a six-point lead with 6:25 left in the first
half.
St. Gregory's (5-3) fought back to tie
the score, 21-21, with 1:48 left to play in the first half, but
a layup by sophomore Alisa Williams with 27 second left put the
Lady Rams up by two at the half.
The Lady Cavaliers came out hot in the
second half, outscoring Texas Wesleyan, 15-7, to take a 36-28 lead
at the 9:01 mark. Dana Neugent scored five points during the span.
St. Gregory's outscored Texas Wesleyan,
18-11 down the stretch to defeat the Lady Rams for the second time
this week.
Junior Shayla Coleman tallied eight points,
six rebounds and three assists for the Lady Rams, while junior LaRhonda
Hunter finished with seven points, four assists and five rebounds.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday,
when they open conference play in Laredo, against Texas A&M-International.
Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
