FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior
Ashley Walker had 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists to
lead Texas Wesleyan over SW Assemblies of God, 76-45, Saturday evening
at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Texas Wesleyan (6-4, 3-1 RRAC) held the
Lady Lions to 28 percent (14-51) shooting from the floor. The Lady
Rams had 14 steals and outrebounded SAGU, 51-34.

Walker keyed a 21-4 run to open the game with nine points to take
a 17-point lead at the 11:26 mark.
The Lady Rams increased their lead to 26
at halftime, registering a 23-14 run over the last 10 minutes. Freshman
Nastassia Brown led the way scoring 11 points during the stretch.
In the second half, Texas Wesleyan opened
with a 10-1 run to take a 54-19 lead with 14:11 left in the game.
Walker had six points during the stretch.
SAGU (2-8, 1-3 RRAC) cut the lead to 65-39,
at the 5:21 mark, keyed by seven points by Susan Burden. That is
as close as the Lady Lions would come.
Texas Wesleyan shot 44 percent (28-64)
from the field and 70 percent (16-23) from the charity stripe. The
Lady Rams also shot 31 percent (4-13) from behind the arc.
SAGU shot a dismal 45 percent (14-31) from
the free-throw line and 30 percent (3-10) from behind the arc.
Junior Kashae Townsend also chipped in
with nine points and 10 rebounds, while junior Shayla Coleman added
11 points and Brown registered 13 points. Freshman Stephanie Sewell
led all Lady Rams with five assists.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action Monday
when they host conference-foe Huston-Tillotson at 5:30 p.m. The
