FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior
Kashae Townsend tallied 11 points and nine rebounds to lead Texas
Wesleyan past Rhema Bible Institute, 66-32, Thursday evening at
the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
Townsend posted three assists and
three blocks. The Hillsboro, Texas native, also had a team-high
four steals to give the Lady Rams their seventh straight victory.
Texas Wesleyan (11-4) shot a blistering
57 percent (17-30) from the floor in the first half and outrebounded
Rhema Bible, 24-9.
Senior Ashley Walker and freshman Stephanie
Sewell led the Lady Rams in the first half, scoring 10 points each.
Sewell canned two three-pointers.
In the second half Texas Wesleyan pushed
the lead to 39 at the 7:54 mark but some cold shooting kept the
score down the rest of the way. The Lady Rams shot a dismal 26 percent
from the floor.
Walker finished the evening with 12 points,
eight rebounds and two blocks. Sewell also had 12 points and three
assists, while junior Shayla Coleman finished with 11 points and
three steals. Sophomore Kori Yates tallied a team-high five assists.
Texas Wesleyan shot 40 percent (27-68)
from the field and 20 percent (3-15) from behind the arc. The Lady
Rams also shot 69 percent (9-13) from the free-throw line.
Rhema Bible shot 20 percent (11-54) from
the floor and 19 percent (4-21) from the three-point line. The Lady
Eagles also shot 67 percent (6-9) from the charity stripe.
Texas Wesleyan forced Rhema Bible into
26 turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Eagles, 52-37.
The Lady Rams will be back in action Saturday
at 5:30 p.m., when they travel to take on conference-rival Bacone
College.
